The Last of Winter…

03/21/2011

A few of the photos taken on a recent retreat to Boone, NC. A group of us lock ourselves in a cabin for a weekend every year. We eat, drink, play games, watch movies. There is always a hot tub, plenty of beer and great views.

I didnt take very many pictures. Cameras and hot tubs don’t mix.

I have a spring post in the works. Its been warm the past few weeks.

Friday.

//////////////

Colors of blue, red, yellow and a lot of green. Ivy covered windows, sharp light, flat ponds, coffee with peanuts, a few pocket watches and some light leaks.

All film from the mountains recently.

I have some friends in town. We are planning on some serious slow cooked barbecue, some games, and more than a few beers.

Have a good weekend.

Over the past couple weeks I have found myself shooting less. Maybe 2-3 pictures a day, if that.  Im spending more time looking for that extra good light or the special moment. Im not forcing it.  I guess its  me being patient, but its frustrating.  My surroundings seem to be stale. Photos repetitious. I don’t know. Individually my pictures are not speaking to me like they use to.

But I hang on to the few collected images, maybe posting a few here and there on flickr, but I basically just wait and push them all in a file on the desktop.  I let them marinate together, if you will, working up a relationship.   I check back on them later and somehow, together, they sing.  I guess it takes time.  And while it may not be one great image by itself, its still something to me, something I want to share with you, something I like. I think thats why I blog.

So here are a few of my collected images over the past couple weeks.  These seemed to cling to each other the most.  Hope you like them.  I do.

I spent last weekend in the mountains shooting some film.  Hopefully Ill have something to share soon.

Hope your week is off to a great start.

Lately…

02/14/2011

///////////

Ok, so I havent been taking a lot of pictures lately. Sorry.  I haven’t felt the inspiration or really had the time.  Maybe its the shorter days, the colder temps, the lack of light at 5 o’clock, I dont know.

However, last week I finally snagged me an Iphone. (!!!) I am a huge tech geek, loving all things that plug in or have batteries.  I especially love Apple products, mainly because I believe their computers and gadgets work so well.  Anyway, there is a great App called Instagram. (Thanks, Foster for introducing it to me)  Im sure many of you have heard of it.  Its quickly becoming the mobile flickr.  (Get on board if you are not already)

I may be late to the Instagram party, but better late then never, I love it. I take pictures with it throughout the day, of everything.  Sure its a bit of photo-cheating, with all the cool filters, color/light enhancements and somewhat poor quality.  But a picture is a picture right?  This blog is about documenting my life, my daily routine.  What I eat, where I go, who I’m with. I am not able to keep my fancy cameras with me all the time, so its nice to have something now to document the little things, the moments.  They say the best camera is the one you have with you.

Here are some photos taken over the past week with the Instagram App.

But if you are looking for some of my regular snaps, I’ll have some ‘real’ photos that I’ve been taking/collecting over the past few weeks to share soon.

If you have Instagram, follow me.  Username: timrobisonjr  But, I usually post them to my twitter if you dont have an Iphone.

A Hike…

01/24/2011

A few weekends ago I jumped in the car and decided to head to Tennessee.  The week had been tough.  I found (and still do) that I haven’t had the time to stop.  No moment to sit. There is always something in the back of my head.  A picking.  A mental list of things that need to be completed.

I had to get away.  I needed fresh air, trees, my friends. Most of all I needed silence.  Silence you can only find when way out in the middle of nowhere.

I have not had much time to take personal pictures the past month, so I made sure to carry not one, but two cameras with me.  I shot digital and film along the way.

It was nice to stop and think about nothing but taking pictures.

These are my favorites digitals from the weekend hike. I love them.

I’ll share the film soon.

Engagement: Zach and Liza!

01/10/2011

A recent engagement session with two awesome people, Liza and Zach.  They were married about a year ago, right before Zach became stationed in Germany for the US Army.  They never got the chance to have engagement pictures, so I was really happy when Liza asked me a few weeks back.

We braved the cold and had a great snowy session around town. (The top two photos are my favorite)

The two live in a great little cottage-like apartment way across the pond in Idar-Oberstein, Germany.  I wish them both the best.

Thanks Liza and Zach.

Engagement: Will and Lauren!

12/22/2010

A recent engagement session with my good friend Lauren and her fiance’ Will.  I had so much fun with these two.  Lauren is a hoot and I hope that Will knows what he is getting himself into!

The light that morning was amazing.  The weather…well, cold. Really, really cold.  They managed to stay a bit warmer than me. (You can probably see why…)  I however still cannot feel my index finger.

Cheers to Lauren and Will!  I wish you guys the best!

Ill be back here soon, but its holiday cram time and I have so much to do.

Hope you all have a happy holiday!

From The Kitchen…

12/15/2010

———-

I take a lot of pictures around the house.  I often get sucked into some good morning light and get lost for about 45 minutes, going from room to room.  The light in the new place is great. Very sharp, bright.   I have so many windows, each room is filled with character. There are small details and lots of wear.  Yet I always find that I take the most pictures in the kitchen.  I dont know if it is the light, the food, the cookeware, objects, dish towels.   I spend a lot, I mean, a. lot. of time in the the kitchen.  Cooking is my relaxation.  My comfort zone.  Its where I go after a long day. Where I wind down.  Most people find cooking a chore. Something they dread having to do after a day at work.  Not me.  Honestly, I’d rather cook than go out.  Strange?

———-

These pictures were all taken in my kitchen. They dont really portray the hustle, or the activity that goes on in here.  They dont show the messy corners that I am sure we all have and hide.  They do, however, capture the feeling.  The light. A bit of simplicity.  Some moments.

Im not sure what it is I like about these.  They have been hanging around for a while, all taken at different times.  I think they sing the loudest together.

Monday.

12/13/2010

———

Recently shot a piece of furniture for my friend Matt Jones.  He designs and builds the pieces entirely on his own.  Pretty awesome, right?  He is working on getting his website up and running.

We had a great time (though very cold out) placing the piece in different environments.

I think they turned out pretty great.

More film, as well as some holiday photos, soon.

Mornings and some tape…

12/07/2010

So I thought I would have a little fun with this post.  (I mean, if you call this fun…?)  Anyway, its always nice to get my film printed, so I thought I would display and post in a different way.

The past few weeks have been full.  Many new projects, photo and illustration, so it good.  My mornings have become so important.  I get up earlier and really make time to sit and think.  My coffee is a must.  Some sort of carbohydrate must follow.  I thought I would share all that.

Hope you all are enjoying your December.  Its been cold here.  Real cold. Im diggin’ it.

I have some new projects to share later in the week, as well as some more film.  Stick around.

Thanks for the awesome comments last post.  You guys rock.

Life Recently.

11/16/2010

Hey! Remember me?  Tim?  The guy in your computer? Well, I’m still here. Still taking pictures. I just have not had much time to post.

So, because of my lack of blogging, today I thought I would give you a nice big dose of images.  All film, too!

Life has been packed the past couple weeks.  I recently moved into a new house.  An old house full of character.  I love it.  A fireplace, chandeliers, glass kitchen cabinets, french doors, bookcases, and lots of great light.  Many of the photos above were taken while unpacking and sorting, so consider it your sneak peek.

I am working on a bunch of photo projects as well as some new sketch projects, too. Stick around.

Hope your autumn is going well.

Final Florida Film…

10/11/2010

Thank you ALL for the awesome, awesome support.  You guys really made the tough decision much, much easier. So again, thank you.

But finally,  here is the last of the film from Florida.  ( I think I dragged it out long enough, no?) Its a mix of all the leftovers.  Hope you enjoyed the trip through my lens.

The weather is finally turning to full fall around here.  So I hope to share some photos of that.  I think it will be a nice contrast to the warm Florida photos.

Also, my photo blog turns the big ole’ 1 tomorrow!  I am not sure what I am going to do.  Maybe a giveaway?  We will see…  So stick around for that.

See you back here real soon.

A Change…

10/06/2010

Its been a crazy couple of weeks.  A lot of thinking, decision making, trips, walking, talking, emailing and searching. I spent a week in the city putting my thoughts together and searching for an apartment.

However, and I have been dreading this post, I have decided not to relocated to NYC.  I feel a bit embarrassed to change my mind, especially after letting so many know and receiving such awesome support from friends and family.  It was a hard and last minute decision.

A lot of details with the new position just didn’t seem promising or nearly creative enough for me, and I had to decide if the job was worth the relocation.

I followed my gut and turned it down.  It just didn’t feel right.

Thank you for the awesome support, emails and comments, though. You guys rock!

So bear with me as I change my mind (as usual) and try to put everything in order. Until then, here are a few more photos from Florida.

Some News! ( and film…)

09/23/2010

I shot these photos out at the great and seemingly untouched Fort Desoto Beach. Its been voted the #1 beach in America and I don’t doubt that.  The whole area looks timeless.  No hotels, no beach bars, no trash.  It’s a pretty awesome place.   You could spend a whole day exploring. ( Bring your camera of course)

I am not sure what the lens flare, light leak thing is going on in some of the photos. It happened on some others too. Do you know? Its kind of a bummer, but I am looking past it and still enjoying the photos.

…………..

The past few days have been quite a whirlwind for me. I have been anxiously waiting, and waiting, and waiting, for some news.  Well I am happy to (finally) share that I will soon be moving to New York!  It is exciting and a bit scary all at the same time, yet it has been something I have always wanted and felt needed to do. My life and work revolves around creativity and I can’t think of any better place that offers as much free inspiration as New York City.  I cannot wait!

I dont have long. ( A little more than 2 weeks) Lots of packing, planing, and hunting to do.   I look forward to what New York has to offer.

…………..

Also, thank you so much for the comments lately. You guys are just awesome.

See you back here with some more Florida film soon.

Florida Film: Part One.

09/20/2010

I am back from my trip.  I had a great time.  I shot a lot of film.  I didnt even break out the digital.

Im pretty busy today, settling back in and unpacking.  But I wanted to share a few of the photos.

I am pretty happy with how most of them turned out.  I told myself that if I shot film on this trip, I would only shoot film, and that I would share every single picture afterwards.

So Ill be back here tomorrow to share some more. Stick around.

09/11/2010

I am off on vacation for a while to the sunny state of Florida. Spending some much needed time on the beach, shooting lots and lots of film and enjoying the last bit of summer.

Back here soon to share lots of pictures.

Weekend In The Woods…

09/07/2010

I spent the weekend in the woods. A nice little cabin.  Very relaxing.  Great weather.  Cool people.

Ill let the pictures speak for themselves.

The Lake…

08/25/2010

Just got back from a great trip to Lake Oconee in Georgia.  We rented cool little place right on the shore.  Spent most of the time floating in the water, drinking cold brewskis, and playing games of pool.  We also took a trip to Athens, GA.  Went on a brew tour at the Terrapin Brewery, walked around downtown a bit, and ate some pretty good BBQ.

Figured I would share a bunch of pictures.  Different colors, textures, shapes, a little blur and some great light. The top and last are my favorites.
